Tachibana Japanese Cuisine
Dine In & Carryout

Established in 1979 by Kathy Aoki, Tachibana is the oldest Japanese restaurant in the Saint Louis area. Tachibana is also the only restaurant in the area to be entirely built and furnished with Japanese decorations and materials. Ms. Aoki herself had carpenters flown in from Japan to build the temple structure and booths the restaurant is known for.

Now, thirty years later, Tachibana has been passed on to new management and part-ownership – Peter Kuo, who previously owned Mr. Wu’s Chinese Gourmet in the Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters and Mr. K’s Asian Cuisine in O’Fallon.

Over the years, Tachibana has thrived and grown, serving not only traditional, but modern Japanese cuisine. While Tachibana cannot boast it is the newest Japanese restaurant in St. Louis, it can say it was the first to introduce Japanese food to St. Louis. After thirty years, it is an honor and privilege to continue serving St. Louis. Tachibana hopes it can continue satisfying customers for the next thirty years.
